Melodie Sachs, Director

Melodie received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She completed her certification in Montessori School Management from the Center for Montessori Teacher Education/NY in 2008. She trained at the Maryland Center for Montessori Studies for her AMS Early Childhood credential which she completed in 2010. Melodie has been a parent at Heritage since 1997 and has been employed by the school since 2006.

Beth McCarthy, Stepping Stones Program

Beth received her Bachelor’s degree from Towson University, Towson, MD, and has completed graduate work at Goucher College, Towson, MD. She received her AMS Early Childhood credential in 1994 from the Maryland Center for Montessori Studies and completed her Infant/Toddler training at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in 2010. Beth has been at HMS since 2002.

Catherine Lawson, Early Childhood Program

Catherine received her Bachelor’s degree from Curry College, Milton, MA and her AMS Pre-Primary credential (ages 2.5 to 6) in 1989. She joined the HMS faculty in August, 2005, after teaching in Montessori schools in the DC area for 15 years.

Humera Qadri, Early Childhood

Humera received her Bachelor’s degree from University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan, and her Montessori training at the same institution. Humera has been here at HMS since 1995. Humera received her AMS Early Childhood credential from the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in 2006 in addition to her Montessori training that she received in Pakistan.

Elaine Smith, Early Childhood

Elaine received her Bachelor’s degree from Towson State University, Towson, MD. She received her AMS Early Childhood Credential in 2007 from the Maryland Center for Montessori Studies. Elaine has been with HMS since 2004.

Linda Molino, Elementary 1 Program

Linda attended State University of New York Š Brockport, and Empire State University. She received her AMS Elementary 1 credential in 2000 from the Center for Montessori Teacher Education/NY. She has taught in the New York area, most recently at Montessori School of Syracuse for 7 years before joining HMS in 2006.

Erika Thomas, Elementary 2 Program

Erika attended a Montessori school in the Washington D.C. area until 6th grade, and returned there as a teacher after graduating from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) and obtaining her AMS Elementary I credential from the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in 2003. She taught in the Elementary program in the D.C. area Montessori schools for five years and completed her Elementary II training in 2007. Erika joined our faculty in 2007

Yvonne Coulter, Before and After School Care Program, Early Childhood Program

Yvonne attended Bennett College in Greensboro, NC and Essex Community College in Baltimore, MD. She has completed the requirements for Group Leader in a licensed child care facility and has been at HMS since 1985.

Renee Smith, Stepping Stones and Before and After School Care Program

Renee has been an active parent volunteer and substitute at HMS since 2005. She holds a 90 Hour Childcare Credential and joined the HMS staff in 2008.

Erin Pressman, Elementary 1 Program

Erin received her Bachelor of Arts from UMBC in 2006 and earned her AMI Elementary 1 & 2 credential in 2008 from Centro Internazionale Studi Montessoriani in Bergamo, Italy. Additionally, she holds Level 1 and 2 certification in Radiant Child Yoga. Erin joined the HMS faculty in 2010.

Janine Spiker, Physical Education

Janine earned her BachelorÕs degree from Towson University and is in the process of completing her Masters in Art of Teaching. She joined HMS in 2007 and has worked in the Early Childhood and Elementary programs as an assistant as well as all other levels as a substitute.

Nancy Salazar, Spanish and Early Childhood

Nancy received her degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and her Childcare Credential from the Institutio de Educacion Infantil. She has also attended Montgomery College and Centro Familia as well as Prince Georges Community College. She joined our staff as our Spanish teacher in 2008 and began assisting in the Early Childhood program in 2010.

Donna Leach, Administrative Assistant

Donna joined the HMS staff in 2005.

Melissa Shull, Bookkeeper

Melissa joined the Heritage Montessori staff in 2010. She is also certified as a substitute teacher with the Baltimore County Public School system.
